ORHF in Army Times
In its article “Mission: Family: Veterans group ‘in the trenches’ with hope, results,” the Army Times describes how ORHF’s Debra Snyder helped homeless Veteran Lloyd Clarke and his invalid wife move from a homeless shelter to a place of their own.
Speaking of ORHF co-founder Synder, Clarke said “She’s the most tenacious, dedicated person I’ve ever met,” Clarke said. “She’s out there in the trenches.” Snyder and her organization “don’t try to blow smoke up your shirt,” Clarke said. “They do what they can for you. They give you a hand up, not a hand out.”

USA TODAY: Homeless, At-Risk Veterans Double
The number of Iraq and Afghanistan veterans who are homeless or at risk of losing a roof over their heads has more than doubled in the past two years, according to government data. Through the end of September, 26,531 of them were living on the streets, at risk of losing their homes, staying in temporary housing or receiving federal vouchers to pay rent, the Department of Veterans Affairs reports. ORHF: Newman’s Own Award Winner
Operation Renewed Hope Foundation was one of six organizations selected as a Newman’s Own Award 2012 recipient for its work to improve the quality of life for military families and homeless Veterans. Newman’s Own, Fisher House Foundation, and Military Times (Gannett Government Media Corporation) sponsor the competition, which seeks to reward ingenuity for programs benefiting service men and women and their families.
